Spitfire G-TCHI Returns to Hawarden

Aviation Park Group was pleased to welcome Spitfires.com back to Hawarden Aerodrome recently as they operated the beautifully restored Supermarine Spitfire G-TCHI from our facilities.

The aircraft, which has recently been repainted in its historic Polish Air Force markings, attracted plenty of attention during its visit. Following its previous appearance in special celebration blue colours, the return to its wartime scheme highlights another chapter in the aircraft’s ongoing story.

Despite challenging weather conditions and strong winds across North Wales, the Spitfires.com team carried out their operations with the professionalism and attention to detail for which they are well known. It was a pleasure to support both the aircraft and the people who work to keep these important pieces of aviation history flying.

For Hawarden, visits from historic aircraft such as the Spitfire carry particular significance. The aerodrome has a long connection with British aviation history. During the Second World War, Hawarden played an important role in aircraft production and maintenance through the nearby de Havilland facility, which supported the war effort and contributed to the development of military aviation in the United Kingdom.

Today, Hawarden remains an active centre for aviation, welcoming business aviation, general aviation, aircraft maintenance operations and visiting historic aircraft. The sight of a Spitfire on the apron serves as a reminder of the airfield’s place within Britain’s aviation heritage while demonstrating the continued importance of preserving these aircraft for future generations.

We would like to thank Mark Hillier and the entire team at Spitfires.com for choosing Aviation Park Group and Hawarden Aerodrome once again. We look forward to welcoming them back in the future.

If you are planning a visit to Hawarden or require hangarage, apron space, FBO services or aviation support facilities, Aviation Park Group offers a range of services for operators, owners and aviation businesses based at one of the UK’s most historic aerodromes.
